-50 York – pulled 6″-right hand, -MISS-left hand     *Notes: It’s always this way with the Blob.  I need a half-dozen pulls to get warmed up and then it goes.  We’ll see if this workout is like the standard.

-50 York – pulled 5″-right hand, -MISS-left hand     *Notes: Getting weaker?  Crap…got to focus.

-50 York – FULL LIFT-right hand, -MISS-left hand     *Notes: About time I got a full lift!

I might be too hard on myself because this was after a 2HP workout.  I’m slowly increasing my pinch stamina though.

-104×1     *Notes: Full lift. 

-139×1     *Notes: Full lift. 

-166-MISS     *Notes: Got about 2″ of air. 

-166-MISS     *Notes: Got about 1″ of air.  Uh oh – I shouldn’t be getting weaker already…time for Plan B – lowering the weight to get in a good lift today.

-160×1     *Notes: Pulled about 15″ – which is well over the legal pull height. 

-166×1     *Notes: Pulled about 10″ – which is a little over 1″ better than a legal pull. 

Did this entire pinch workout while standing on 11″ high stack of weight plates.  I had a ruler set up so that I could review my harder attempts and see how high they went. 

My 57mm 2HP max is 8lbs under my 52mm 2HP max right now.  I will continue switching back and forth so that I’ll be ready for Adam Glass’s grip contest in November though.  52mm and 57mm are both options at that contest and I want to be ready for either one.  I’ll also be doing 19mm 2HP regularly so that’ll add more variety into the equation.

-11.6×1-both hands     *Notes: Full lifts.  Pretty light. 

-11.6×1-both hands     *Notes: Full lifts again.

-22×1-both hands     *Notes: Definitely feeling this weight.  Feel like I can do about 5lbs more righty.

-27.2-for 3 MISSES-both hands     *Notes: Got at least 2″ on each attempt – once was 5″. 

-27.2×1-both hands     *Notes: Full lifts on both hands. 

-27.2×1-left hand     *Notes: Full lift.

First time training the coin pinch but I like it.  Going to help me on yet another facet of pinch strength that I suck at.


7-3-11: Rolling Thunder

All the lifts in this Rolling Thunder workout were done using the “water trick” method.

-166×1-both hands     *Notes: Both full pulls.

-192×1-both hands     *Notes: Both full pulls again.  PR lefty by about 10lbs!  Held it at lockout righty for a 2-second pause.  No pause at the top lefty though.   

-202×1-right hand, -MISS-left hand     *Notes: Full pull righty and got about 1/2″ lefty.  No pause at the top righty.  Not that one is needed for me to consider it a successful lift. 

-205-MISS-right hand, -MISS-left hand     *Notes: Got 1/2″ of movement righty and nothing lefty.

-192×1-right hand, -MISS-left hand     *Notes: Full pull righty and 2″ lefty.  No pause at the top righty.

Very solid Rolling Thunder workout today!  Nice to be over 200lbs again righty. 

6-29-11: 1 Hand Pinch

-(2) standard 25s – full lift-both hands

-(2) standard 25s-index and middle fingers – @ 1″-both hands – on 2 attempts     *Notes: These are slick 25s but thinner than my Olympic 25s.

-(2) 35s – for 5 MISSES-both hands     *Notes: Got about 1″ of air on 3 attempts and nothing on the other 2 trys. 

Didn’t expect a strong 1 Hand Pinch workout after all the other stuff I did in this extended workout.

Not a good day for blob training.  Getting air is always a good thing though so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.

-57×1     *Notes: Full lift. 

-101×1     *Notes: Full lift.  Already reminded of the pressure that thin pinch puts on the fingers.

-147×1    *Notes: PR at 19mm by 4lbs!  Barely hit the contest-legal height gauge.  Very hard pull. 

-150-MISS     *Notes: Got about 1/2″ of movement.  Amazing how 3 extra lbs totally changed this lift.

-150-MISS     *Notes: No movement at all.

-137×1     *Notes: Pulled about 10″.  Another very hard pull. 

*Overall Notes: Did this entire pinch workout while standing on 11″ high stack of weight plates.  I had a ruler set up so that I could review my harder attempts and see how high they went. 

I don’t like how the 19mm pinch width feels but I’ll continue to do it because of the 2012 Michigan Grip Championships.  The mantra I keep repeating to myself is – “I will train my pinch until it becomes a strength and ceases to be a liability.”
